The project involves schools in five European Countries: Derby in England, Athens in Greece, Istanbul in Turkey, Valencia in Spain and Leuven (Miniemeninstituut) in Belgium.
The project’s aim is to improve the attainment of the students in each of the 5 schools involved through raising the knowledge and understanding of destinations in Europe in relation to different areas of tourism the project focuses on.
Our students studied:
cultural tourism in Bruges, Belgium by making their own leaflet
Economic tourism by analysing numbers provided by the Flemish Tourism Board
Environmental tourism by designing by bike hub tours in some Flemish regions
Sustainable tourism by studying how problems with mass tourism are handled in Bruges compared to other cities like Barcelona and Amsterdam
Planning & development by learning about the expansion of Zeebrugge harbour as a port for major cruise ships
